Elegant Daisy Embroidery Design: Botanical Sketch Daisy Machine Embroidery File
The Elegant Daisy embroidery design is a detailed botanical sketch-style daisy rendered entirely in dark charcoal thread without fill stitches, depicting a full-face bloom with two overlapping layers of elongated petals and a densely filled dark center disc. Each petal is outlined with a satin stitch border and decorated with multiple fine internal vein lines running lengthwise from the petal base toward the tip, giving the design a hand-illustrated, engraving-quality appearance. This design stitches out at 17,717 stitches.
What distinguishes this design from other daisy or sunflower outline embroideries in a botanical collection is the two-layer petal construction. The bloom has an outer ring of broader, more fully developed petals and an inner ring of slightly narrower petals visible between and behind the outer ring, creating a sense of three-dimensional depth and petal density that a single-layer daisy outline cannot achieve. Digitizing two concentric petal rings at this scale, with each inner petal partially visible behind the outer ring without the layers merging into an illegible tangle of outlines, requires precise z-order and path spacing management that distinguishes this file from simpler single-layer floral outlines.
Design Details
The outer petal ring consists of approximately sixteen broad, elongated petals arranged in a full radial spread around the center. Each petal is formed by a smooth outer satin stitch outline that tapers to a rounded tip and narrows to a pointed base near the center disc, with three to five fine parallel running stitch vein lines inside each petal running from base to near-tip. The inner petal ring consists of similar but slightly narrower petals positioned in the gaps between the outer petals, their tips visible at the outer perimeter and their bases converging at the center ring. The center disc is a circular filled zone rendered with a dense pattern of small curved or looping stitches that create a textured seed-head surface, suggesting the packed floret structure of a daisy or sunflower center. The disc is surrounded by a clean dark satin stitch ring that separates it from the inner petal bases. The entire composition is monochromatic in deep charcoal, giving it the refined quality of a botanical illustration or vintage engraving that works beautifully on light natural fabrics.

Digitizing Quality
The primary digitizing challenge was managing the visual separation between the two overlapping petal rings. The inner petal tips must be visible at the outer perimeter between the outer petals without the closely spaced outlines of adjacent inner and outer petals visually merging on fabric. The spacing between the outer edge of each inner petal outline and the neighboring outer petal outline was calibrated to maintain a minimum visible gap on woven fabric, keeping both petal layers distinct and readable in the finished embroidery.
The internal vein lines within each petal required consistent spacing and parallel alignment across all petals. Because the petals radiate at different angles around the bloom, the vein line paths within each petal must be individually angled to follow that petal's specific axis, rather than using a single global stitch direction. Each petal's veins were digitized with paths aligned to the petal's own long axis, ensuring the veins read as natural internal structure rather than arbitrary parallel lines imposed on the petal shape.
The center disc texture presented a density management challenge. The looping or seed-pattern fill used to suggest the daisy center must be dense enough to read as a solid textured mass from a normal viewing distance while avoiding excessive thread buildup that would stiffen the center area and cause puckering on lighter fabrics. The center fill density was set at a level that provides full visual coverage without creating a hard, boardy disc in the finished piece.
