Dallas Mavericks Blackout Horse Badge Embroidery Design

The Mavericks horse head circle badge in single-color black: a thick continuous satin border frames the circle, and inside the dense black fill the flowing mane is constructed entirely through open white negative space channels that cut through the fill to show the garment beneath. Each mane channel follows the sweep direction of the strand and narrows to a jagged pointed tip, with several tips extending outward past the horse form toward the circular border. The horse head sits in three-quarter profile with the mane sweeping back and upward, a raised black eye accent and jaw line defining the face above the surrounding fill. On white and light fabrics the open mane channels read with maximum contrast. On dark fabrics the design shifts to a tonal embossed effect where the mane texture reads as depth within the black field.

Stitching Tips

Fabric color selection determines the visual character of this design more than any other variable. Black on white or light gray produces maximum mane channel contrast. Black on navy or dark gray produces a tonal depth effect. Use cutaway stabilizer on hoodies and heavier garments to maintain circular border integrity through the dense fill run. For cotton and twill, tearaway is sufficient. At 2 to 2.5 inches, apply water-soluble topping on textured fabrics to prevent the narrow mane channel lines from filling in with fabric pile and losing their open structure.
