The Detroit heritage Old English D lettermark with the leaping lion mascot overlapping in a single layered composition. The large decorative capital D in blackletter style is filled with silver-gray satin and framed by a white satin outer border tracing the full D perimeter including all swash terminal tips, an upward curved arm above, a downward curved arm below, and secondary swash arms at the sides. A narrow vertical open counter inside the D is bordered by a white inner satin ring. The leaping lion mascot is positioned so its body overlaps the right center zone of the D: the blue satin lion fill covers the gray D fill in the overlap zone, with the white lion border creating the spatial depth cue that reads as the lion being in front of the letter. The lion's rear legs and tail extend below the D baseline against the garment background. A small blue element appears at the lower left through the D's lower swash opening. No background fill. Stitching Tips

Stitch the gray D fill first as the base element, then the white D border, then the blue lion fill positioned over the D in the overlap zone, then the white lion border last as the spatial depth indicator. The white lion border must be the final pass in the overlap zone — it is the visual cue that the lion is in front of the D, and if it stitches before the gray D fill it gets covered and that depth read is lost. Use a medium-weight cutaway stabilizer on knit and stretch fabrics. At 2 and 2.5 inches on textured fabrics, apply water-soluble topping to preserve the D terminal tip geometry and the lion mane detail.
